9 Days - Uganda primates and wildlife safari

Day 1 - Kampala-Kibale forest; home of Chimps

As early as 7:00 am local time, transfer to Kibale National park via Mubende with a stop over at Nakayima “spiritual” tree. Here you will meet a story teller and introduce you to the traditional culture of the Baganda; proceed to Fort Portal traversing spectacular tea plantations and local homesteads. You may arrive in fort portal town around mid day. After lunch continue to your lodge for relaxation.

Day 2 - Chimp Trekking and Nature walk

At 6:30 am, take your breakfast and transfer to the park headquarters for briefing by the park ranger. At 8:30 am you will transfer to the beginning of the tracking trail. Usually it takes a minimum of 3 hours tracking the chimps in the forest.

After the chimp trek return to the lodge for a hot lunch as you prepare to go for an evening nature walk in the Bigodi wetland. Expect to see some primates including different monkey species; and a plethora of birds including the great blue turaco. Later return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3 - Chimpanzee Trekking,Transfer to Queen elizabeth national park

After breakfast, go for chimpanzee tracking in the forest with the highest concentration of primates in Uganda like Red Colobus, Black & White Colobus, Grey cheeked Monkey, Blue Monkey, Red tailed Monkey, olive baboons, and bush baby. This park has also got wild mammals like forest Elephants, Bush pigs, Hyenas, Duikers, Antelopes, without forgetting 372 species of Birds like Blue headed Sun birds, Warblers, Bee- eaters, King fishers and many others.

In the afternoon, Transfer , you will embark on your journey towards the south western part of the country to explore the famous to Queen elizabeth national park whichl is the second largest savannah park in Uganda and the popular due to its history with the Queen of England – Queen Elizabeth II.

Day 4 - Game drive & in the afternoon cruise on Kazinga Channel

After a splendid morning cup of coffee at your hotel, embark on the drive across the rolling savannah range lands of Queen Elizabeth National park in search of wild game.

The stretch to the Kasenyi plains, the renown mating ground offers you a lifetime opportunity to encounter numerous families of wild game in a single glance including elephants, buffaloes, water bucks and Kobs along with predators like lions, leopards and jackals.

The game drive takes 3 – 4 hours. After the game drive, undertake a community experience along the shores of Lake George to explore the indigenous people’s ways of life, canoe experience, etc.

Day 5 - Chimpanzee tracking, Transfer to the famous Ishasha sector

After breakfast, embark on chimps trekking in Kyambura gorge (underground forest) or Kalinzu forest reserve and later the trip to southern part of the park famouss for tree climbing lions,You undertake a game drive in this section of the park which is well endowed with the infamous climbing lions together with other wild game that dwell in this woodland part of the park. The tree climbing lions prefer to lie flat on fig tree branches in the mid-morning sun while waiting for their prey. After this encounter, proceed on the drive to your lodge neighbouring shasha for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 6 - Game drive and transfer to Bwindi

Impenetrable national park, Today after breakfast we take a game drive to look for what you might have missed in the previous day and later drive to bwindi forest famous for gorillas. Dinner and overnight: Agandi lodge or similar.

Day 7 - Gorilla tracking and transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla National park

After an early breakfast, you will take a packed lunch, have a briefing by the game guides at the park headquarters and start your gorilla trail. Hiking through the thick, verdant, rainforest to eventually come across the gorillas in their natural habitat, is an amazing and unforgettable experience. This encounter takes between 2 to 9 hours and is the highlight of an Africa exploration safari. You will only have 1 hour of close contact with these calm gentle apes, take pictures and get acquainted to them.

You are free to shoot as many photos as you desire before you retreat from the activity to return to the starting point. And then tranfer to Mgahinga gorilla national park and this is the smallest national park fanous for gorillas and Golden monkey. Found in the Virunga massif ecosystem around albertine region shared by three countries Uganda,Rwanda and DR Congo.

Day 8 - Golden monkey trekking and tranfer to lakeBunyonyi

After an early breakfast, you will take a journey to the park offices with your packed lunch, get registered and have a briefing by the park rangers at the park headquarters and start your golden monkey trail,Come back from the trekking for lunch, and head straight to second deepest Lake Bunyonyi in africafor relaxation.

Day 8, Early morning excursion at the lake and in the afternoon transfer to Kigali

After a relaxed breakfast, you will undertake an early canoe trip to access the beauty of Lake Bunyonyi. You explore the attractive landscapes of the lake and impressive relief of Kigezi region. Reach out to some of its 29 Virgin Islands amidst the pleasantly undulating hills of Kigezi. You can also engage in a natural simple walk to explore the life of the islanders. The 4 – 5 hour canoe cruise is a rewarding experience worth venturing. Retreat from this activity, have lunch at the lodge and transfer to Kigali, Rwanda, dinner and overnight.

Note: With this tour progamme we advise to book flights landing in entebbe and flying through Kigali airport in Rwanda because kigali airport will be closer than Entebbe airpot
